Since the passing of Steve Jobs, a lot of people have been talking about how surprised they were at how strongly they felt about his passing.  It’s no question that he changed the world.  But it got me thinking about the other people that have influenced me, though I’ve never met them.
These three men - Jim Henson, Gene Kelly, and Steve Jobs - all inspired and influenced and challenged me.  And still do.  And I had that “punched in the gut” feeling when I learned of each man’s passing.
So… Thank you, Jim. Thank you, Gene.  Thank you, Steve.
Thank you to all of the people out there who are creating and innovating and breaking down walls.  You have inspired me, and will continue to inspire future generations to do great things.

"I don’t know exactly where ideas come from, but when I’m working well ideas just appear. I’ve heard other people say similar things - so it’s one of the ways I know there’s help and guidance out there. It’s just a matter of our figuring out how to receive the ideas or information that are waiting to be heard."

— Jim Henson

"As children, we all live in a world of imagination, of fantasy, and for some of us that world of make-believe continues into adulthood."

— Jim Henson

"There’s not a word yet, for old friends who’ve just met."

— Jim Henson

"The most sophisticated people I know - inside they are all children."

— Jim Henson

"When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope is to leave the world a little better for having been there."

— Jim Henson
