Hi, I’m Sue. I started watching Doctor Who less than 6 months ago, and I already own a sonic screwdriver and dark red Chucks, and I am an Anomaly.
Back in February, we released an Anomaly Supplemental that was simply an unedited chat that Kasey, Sarah, and I had about Doctor Who, while I was still watching it, and, well, I made an uninformed statement about Donna Noble. My exact words were: “I think she would have been a terrible companion” (you can hear it for yourself at 32:35). Yeah, I know. I knew before we even release the show, but decided to leave it in, because that was my impression at the time. A week or so after that podcast was released, my brother called and said that he was listening in the car on his way to work and had to pull over because he was laughing so hard. Thanks, Joe.
Podcasting on Enchanted tonight….
Remember that article from December announcing that The Dramatists Guild had uncovered a bunch of old reel to reel tapes of their members giving lectures about their work? Well, they’ve launched a podcast from those archives, and the first episode features a Stephen Sondheim talk from the early 1970s — he claims it’s his first — in which he sings a couple of songs that had been cut from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
It’s utterly delightful. I’m sure you’ll think so too.
Ugh. I wish I could listen to this. FU computer speakers! I wish this was downloadable so I could put it on my ipod :/
You can download it from the Dramatists Guild website - right-click on Sondheim’s face and save the target file.
Hi! I’m Sue. I put off watching “The End of Time” for nearly two weeks because if I didn’t see the tenth Doctor regenerate, it wouldn’t happen (except that it already had). And I am an Anomaly. Last month, Sarah, Kasey, and I talked about “Face Off.” Well, after we were done recording that episode, we stayed on the call for a while to plan our upcoming podcast schedule. Of course, we got side-tracked and talked for almost an hour about “Doctor Who.” Luckily, we were still recording. So this episode is that chat.
We decided not to edit this too much, because of the nature of the conversation. It was very organic, and we wanted to leave it that way. So, you may hear some things that you normally don’t – “um”s, “like”s, “y’know”s, pauses, and so on. But I did take out further digressions into things like Newsies and The Muppets.
Our “Doctor Who” podcast is finally out! KC (nerderyandlifery) and I talk about “Blink” from “Doctor Who” Series 3. KC is a serious Whovian, and I had never seen a single episode before.

Anomaly Interview: Ashley Eckstein
Hi, I’m Sue. I shook hands with a World Series MVP and hugged a Star Wars actress within 20 minutes, and I am an Anomaly. I was fortunate enough to have the chance to chat with Ashley Eckstein on the show floor at New York Comic Con (so it’s loud). I also got to chat with her husband, 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein, about the MLB playoffs – but that’s not part of this podcast.
Ashley is the voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the creator of Her Universe, a science-fiction inspired merchandise line (apparel, accessories, and cosmetics) exclusively for women, currently partnered with Lucasfilm and Syfy. Ashley grew up as a Disney kid and a Star Wars fan, has been designing clothes since she was 10, and has a massive Alice in Wonderland collection.
We talked about growing up geek, and even being a geek girl as an adult, and the persisting stereotypes that we face. On lighter notes, we also digressed a little bit into sharing stories of trips to Walt Disney World. Ashley also shared the story of her audition process for Ahsoka and hinted at another partnership for Her Universe that she couldn’t quite discuss yet, and some upcoming Her Universe branded merchandise.

The following is a panel from New York Comic Con, titled “Screen Future: Gaming, Comics, and TV around the world and 5 years from now.” Panelists are Brian David Johnson (Intel Futurist and author of “Screen Future“), Craig Engler (Senior Vice President and General Manager, Syfy Digital, Syfy), Cory Doctorow (sci-fi author and blogger on boingboing), and Jim Shooter (comic writer, editor, and publisher currently at Dark Horse Comics).

Hi, I’m Sue. I attended 3 conventions in 2 months, and I am a tired Anomaly. This extra special Anomaly episode is full of news out of New York Comic Con. From television, to documentaries, to short films, to graphic novels, to video games – there’s a little bit of everything.
As I say in the episode introduction, this is by no means comprehensive coverage. With just Anne and myself convering con, there was certainly no way that we could make it to everything, so there was plenty of stuff we did not get to. Instead, you’re stuck with report from the things that we found most interesting. We’re really excited about the news in this episode, and hope that you will be, as well.

A nerdish florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.
In the first installment of our Mastergeek Theater series, KC and I cover Little Shop of Horrors in it’s many incarnations. Although we touch briefly on the 1960 film and theatrical productions, we focus mainly on the 1986 movie musical. Little Shop is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year, and features fantastic music, and puppetry from veterans of the Jim Henson Creature Shop, and wonderful direction by Frank Oz. Musicals with puppets? As if you expected anything else from us.
Another interview for “Anomaly Week.” I got to speak with Carrie Goldman, mom of Katie, the Star Wars girl. Carrie talks about bullying, Katie’s reaction to all the attention she got last year, how raising a geek girl is different from raising a “normal” girl, and the influence that science-fiction and fantasy have had on the way Katie thinks and plays.
I got to interview Jessica Mills (of Awkward Embraces) for Anomaly! Check out the awesome.
